Artist Statement

Picasso’s famous quote, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up” had a profound influence on her and her work. Keiko’s works are thematically playful and child-like, reminiscent of the cartoons of her childhood. Her work focuses on passion, emotion, exploration, and visual aesthetics.   Keiko uses a diverse range of media, from digital art to gouache painting. She enjoys creating things by hand and using techniques such as risograph or screen-printing when creating prints. Color is a very important aspect in her work and her color palettes are inspired from fashion, movies, and nature.
